I love it - seems like everybody has a version of Amazing Grace, but yours has a sense of joy and redemption. How was the Young Life camp in Arizona? Any video to be had?
The IT Admin. at work lets me check my e-mail, but videos are “off the reservation” I just got to see the “Amazing Grace” post. I love the upbeat tempo of your “Amazing Grace” but, (please don’t hate me) I get more from your “What If” – (Sorry BEC – I realize that’s the earlier album) – and here’s why. “Amazing Grace” has it’s historic significance and all, but issues of slavery - where I grew up – … not so much. I appreciate the hymn and all, but I don’t really connect with it. Now – in your “What If” –your lyric - “What if every battle was victorious then would you love me more” - contrasted with – “What if I failed what I passed before then would you love me less” - WOW – now you’re where I live! See to me …. well – you played ball – when you hit a long home run – isn’t it easy to say “Praise the Lord – Thanks You Jesus.” – but when you strike out swinging at that same sucker pitch three times – it’s harder to say “Thank You Jesus” because I tend to judge myself by personal achievement. But your “What If” reminds me “I belong to You (God) – apart from the things I do..” Boy! now THAT encourages me. I sure swing at my share of bogus pitches. Well, Jadon, you’re good company. thanks for the blog, and thanks for being there.
Hey Jadon - hope you can post some video from New Orleans. I want to see how you get that much stage equipment on Mid-City Rock N' Bowl's stage! Zydego one night and Christian Music the next! What a place! And I can sure get behind the Food Bank's program. Think I'll skip the movie this weekend and send them out a check instead.
I just got back from vacation. When I got home the CDs had arrived. Local WalMart had them in stock as well. (Must have come in on the same UPS truck!) I was loving the lyrics, but the CD quality is MUCH better than what I was mooching off the internet. And of course on the radio station interviews carried on the web, you don’t get the added dimension of your accompanists. Big difference! Boy I’d like to be a fly on the wall at a recording session. Example; “Come to Me” (Life on the Inside – track 5) It’s like - you had two versions of that song in mind, and at the ending – you managed to blend both versions into one composition. WOW! Anyway – the CD really brings out the complexity of the compositions. Thanks!
7/13/08 I found a better blog search engine. I used "ask.com" and searched the blogs for "Jadon Lavik" and got a lot more - and better quality - hits. Found some June and July video posts as well as lots of comments from people who attended the concerts. Hope this helps you keep connected.
Switzerland in September! Stay with the acoustic guitar and you won’t need an electric converter except for your razor! Is this the same “Union Scripture” that runs the kids camps and does the Christian Leadership training all over Europe? I Googled them but I need more French to read their web page. (Alas!- Messer Alegra was right – I DO need to know this stuff)
